This Fire & Emergency training course delivers the nationally recognised units:
- PUAFER005 – Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation
- PUAFER006 – Lead an Emergency Control Organisation
This course is designed for individuals assigned as Fire Wardens and Chief Wardens within their workplace’s Emergency Control Organisation (ECO). Participants will learn to safely manage, respond to, and lead others during emergency events such as fire, chemical spills, or evacuations.

Learning Outcomes

Entry Requirements
Participants must be able to:
- Assist with evacuations and command emergency responses
- Use communication systems effectively
- Wear appropriate identification and PPE
- Engage in all practical components including simulations
Pre-Course Work: May be required depending on the delivery method
Online Study Requirements: Access to a device with internet capability
Assessment Requirements
Participants will complete:
Practical Tasks:
- Pre-emergency planning
- Emergency response simulations
- Evacuation coordination
- Use of communication systems
Documentation Tasks:
- Emergency evacuation and debrief forms
- Fault logs
- Emergency plans and procedures
Theory Assessment:
- Multiple-choice and short-answer written questions
All assessments must be completed satisfactorily to achieve competency.
Certificate Renewal
While these units do not have mandatory expiry dates, it is recommended that refresher training be completed every 2 years to maintain competency and awareness of current procedures.
